Health, Well-Being and Respect Week begins on the 6th January. To get ready for the week long of events at Hull, Goole and Harrogate College, we’re running a competition where you can create a poster of what respect means to you and what it should mean in college.

The competition is open to all students of Hull, Goole and Harrogate College. Digital entries be sent to marketing@hcsu.co.uk, and hand-drawn entries sent to your campus library.

Freshers’ Wristband! OVER 18

Freshers’ Wristbands are back, and better than ever! This year we have worked with some great local businesses to deliver a Freshers’ celebrations which everyone can enjoy and remember! The Wristband will be available at the SU Shop for the lost cost of £3 starting on 8th September. The promotional period lasts from the 15th – 19th September (HE Fresher’s Week).

We’re continuing to work with businesses in the local area to provide more events next week. Brace yourselves, more shall arrive!

Discounts:

  • Pozition: One free entry on any day of promotion, and one free drink.

Events:

  • Friday: The Sugar Mill Bar Crawl! £1 before 11:30PM, £3 after 11:30 with wristband.

Freshers’ Higher Education Week!

Freshers HE Week has arrived! This week we will welcome hundreds of new and returning Higher Education students to the college. We have a fantastic lineup of events this week, and plenty of over 18 events to celebrate!

Monday – Meet Your Student Union: The Student Union team will be visiting a classroom near you! We’ll give you all the information you need for the next week of Freshers events, and it’s the perfect opportunity to ask your officers any questions!

Tuesday – Student Day: Meet local businesses and services which may come in handy during your studies at Hull College! Drop by at the HE Centre from 10AM to 2PM!

Wednesday – Freshers’ Fair: The Freshers’ Fair is our annual, and main event of the week at Hull College for students! We’ll be on the Tower Block forecourt with a marquee full of businesses and services for your students. Viking FM & Xercise 4 Less will be challenging students on holding a bag of weights for the longest! Krispy Kreme will be selling some insanely tasty doughnuts, and Army Careers will have a giant wrecking ball! Lots of fun for everyone to enjoy!

Thursday – Community Day: We welcome all the local community causes & organisations into Hull College for the day! Drop by the HE Centre and meet causes which are important to you. It is also the perfect opportunity to volunteer!

Friday – Cool Down Day: It’s been a busy week! Relax with your friends in the HE Centre’s Common Room while playing some games and listening to music!

Management Apprentice Opportunity at Travelodge

Travelodge Hotels are open for applications for a Management Apprentice Scheme which closes on the 11th September! The 2 year management apprentice programme develops people to be able to manage their own hotel within 3 years! Travelodge have locations at dozens of hotels available UK wide.

Essential Criteria
  • 18 – 24 years old (must be 18 before 31st August 2013), with EU residency for a minimum 3 years and the ability to reside in UK.
  • Possess 5 GCSE passes (Grade C) including Maths & English, plus 2 A levels (Grade C) or equivalent UCAS points – BTEC level 3 qualifications are ideal.
  • Have not obtained a previous degree or equivalent vocational qualification.
  • Self sufficient enough in terms of travel or have good access to local transport to travel to and from any of the Travelodge Hotels selected for the scheme.

Freshers’ Weeks Guide – Digital Edition

Freshers’ Weeks is soon approaching with the first event starting next Monday! We’ve been working hard on creating a Freshers’ Guide booklet which will be your perfect companion for Freshers’ Weeks 2014 at Hull College. The Guidebook covers both weeks of events, the Higher Education and the Further Education weeks. But remember, all students can visit any events on both weeks!!

Keep your eye out on Freshers’ Guide booklets around the college campus next Thursday as well, feel free to pick one up or alternatively pick up an official goodie bag for a copy!
